PEAK SEASON AND EASTER FAQ'S

Do you want to stay with us in the ‘silly season’? From Christmas and through January we are chokka-block full with Kiwi families and the few lucky overseas visitors for whom we can find space during our Summer Peak Season.

We love that many families come back year after year, and we want to make sure that everyone who stays with us has a happy, fun, and safe holiday. This means that we operate a little differently for Peak Season than we do in the rest of the year.

These FAQs should answer any questions you have about our Summer Peak Season. If you still have a query, feel free to give us a call on 07 865 9152 or email info@opouterebeach.co.nz before sending through your request.

It is important to read our Campground rules and Reservation Terms and Conditions for more information.

What dates does Peak Season cover?
From 16th December to 28th February

When can I book for Peak Season?
Availability for our peak season dates is usually released via our website around April / May or after we have finalised prioritising our repeat bookings.  You can either book and pay directly via the website, alternatively send us an email with your preference in dates, occupancy details and any extra information you think we may need to know.

Why can I not make a confirmed booking for the following Peak Season right now?
We give priority to our many loyal guests who come back year after year. We process our requests according to the guests’ history with us prior to opening up the on-line bookings.

Can I book for just one or two nights?
We have different minimum nights stays set for our peak periods.  If you can only stay for less than the minimum requirement, send us an enquiry or give us a call to see what we can do for you. There is a chance we may have a shorter stay gap available between bookings.

When do I have to pay?
All new bookings are charged in full at the time of booking.  All repeat bookings will be emailed seperate payment details to secure their bookings around April / May each season.  Please see our Reservation Terms and Conditions for more information.

Do guests have to provide a covid19 vaccination passport?
The accommodation sector has not been mandated and a COVID19 vaccination passport is not a requirement to camp here.  We will be operating at all levels (green, amber and red) under the new COVID19 response legislation and COVID19 health and safety guidelines specific for holiday parks.

When can I check in?
You can check in from 2pm for cabin accommodation and 12pm for camping. Please do not ask for an early check in during Peak Season.

When do I have to check out?
Please check out by 10am at the latest. Because we are so busy during Peak season, we do not have space for you to keep your vehicle or belongings inside the Campground after your check out time. Please do not ask for a late check out.

Can I request a specific site or accommodation unit?
Yes, simply write in your request what site or area or cabin you want. It’s also worth mentioning if you’ve been there before (although we do try to have everyone’s site history on record), if you want to be next to other people booking, and if you are flexible with your dates. It all helps us place you in the best spot available for you.

Can I be next to my friends/family?
Of course! We try our very hardest to accommodate everyone’s requests so you can catch up with your rellies and friends for the holidays. We do require each separate site/cabin to be booked separately so we can keep track of everything. When you request your site please write the names of the other families that you want to be next to (and the sites they are requesting, if you know).

Please note that if we receive more than one booking in your name, it will be rejected.

We’re a big group of friends, can we book lots of sites together?
We are a family oriented campground, so if you’re looking for a place to party we suggest you look elsewhere. However, if your group wants a relaxed and friendly vibe, and is happy to abide by our Campground rules, including noise and alcohol restrictions, we welcome you to our place. You can request sites together (mention who you want to be next to) and we’ll see what we can do. Make sure you understand our terms of booking ie each site is to be booked individually and each guest is booked onto a specific site, with a maximum of 8 per site.

Can we book one site and have different people staying on it at different times?
You are welcome to have visitors stay with you at different times, for a nightly fee, (within the limit of 8 people per site, or the maximum number allowed in your cabin). However the person who has booked the site/cabin (the ‘reservation holder’) has to be staying there for the whole period of the booking.

My family has been staying with you since the 1960’s, will you give me priority on my choice of accommodation?
We just love that so many families come to see us every year, some going back several generations. We operate our priority system according to site/cabin history rather than your general visiting history, although of course we do take your family’s loyalty into consideration. ‘Site history’ means how many years you have been on the same site/in the same cabin, for the same dates .

How many people can stay in my site or in my cabin?
You can have up to 8 people stay on a camping site, or, for accommodation, the maximum number shown in the Cabin Descriptions. Please give us a call or email if your family has more than this maximum number, and we’ll help you consider options.

Can we have visitors over for dinner?
Your visitors are very welcome any time between 8.00am and 10pm.   All visitors must register at reception and pay for their day pass before they go in to visit you. Visitor vehicles are to park in the overflow parking area only and are not permitted in the grounds during peak season.  You are responsible for all your visitors and making sure they abide by our Campground rules (including leaving the property by 10pm).

Can we have visitors stay overnight?
As long as you will not exceed the maximum number of people allowed on your site or in your cabin, you may have visitors stay overnight, just ask them to pop into Reception to register and pay the nightly fee.

Can we have a New Years party?
New Year’s Eve is a light-hearted, family event at our campground where families celebrate together. We do not tolerate any excessive drinking or loud parties, and expect all guests to respect their neighbours who may be trying to sleep. Quiet time is 10.30pm although we do give some leeway until midnight on this evening only. Our Campground rules on behaviour, alcohol, and noise always apply.

What can I fit on my site?
Our camping sites are all approximately 8m x 8m square, so can easily fit your tent or caravan, plus your car or trailer and a picnic table or gazebo, or whatever you want to bring. However all your belongings, including vehicles, must fit within the boundaries of your site (it’s worth checking with us for exact dimensions if you plan to bring a lot). You cannot park cars or trailers on empty sites or green spaces nearby, or on the road edge outside your boundary.

Where do we park our cars, trailer, boat etc?
You may park on your camping site whatever fits within the site boundaries. If you have extra trailers or boats etc that do not fit on your site, or in your allocated parking (for cabin accommodation), we have some extra space available for a daily fee, on a first come first served basis.

Can we run a generator?
Sorry, no. No exceptions.
